34th great summer flea market on the casino esplanade in Néris-les-Bains
Every last Sunday of June, Néris-les-Bains — a charming spa town with origins dating back to the Gallo-Roman era — hosts its Grande Brocante d'Été. With over 200 exhibitors and 34 editions under its belt, this event has established itself as one of the most important and reputable flea markets in the Allier department.
The flea market takes over the casino esplanade, a vast open space in the heart of the town, as well as the adjacent streets. This layout allows for a pleasant stroll among the stalls, with views of the thermal park, the Belle Époque casino, and the elegant facades of the spa town. The 19th-century thermal architecture provides a choice setting for this event, where passionate treasure hunters and curious strollers mingle.
The opening at 5 a.m. testifies to the enthusiasm this flea market generates among the most dedicated treasure hunters. From the first light of day, the aisles fill with visitors eager to find a bargain before the crowds. The approximately 200 exhibitors offer a wide range: antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, paintings, old books, collectibles, old tools, and curiosities of all kinds.
Néris-les-Bains boasts remarkable heritage: Gallo-Roman remains, a Romanesque church, a landscaped park, thermal baths, and a casino. The flea market is the ideal opportunity to combine the pleasure of treasure hunting with the discovery of this heritage. After browsing the stalls, visitors can stroll through the thermal park, admire the Roman arena, or enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this small spa town nestled in the green countryside of Bourbonnais.
