The Avenir Flea Market: Thirty Years of Popular Bargain-Hunting in Stains

Every autumn, rue Jean-Jaurès in the Avenir neighbourhood of Stains (93240) takes on the air of a great open-air bazaar. Organised by the Comité des Fêtes du Quartier de l'Avenir, the Grande Brocante is one of the most popular events in Seine-Saint-Denis. With over thirty editions, this event is firmly rooted in the social and cultural life of the municipality.

350 to 400 Sellers on Rue Jean-Jaurès

Rue Jean-Jaurès, the neighbourhood's main street, is entirely reserved for sellers for the occasion. From 6am to 6pm, between 350 and 400 vendors set up their stalls to offer an incredible variety of second-hand items: adult and children's clothing, shoes, toys, books, records, electronics, knick-knacks, crockery, furniture and everyday objects. Cars are strictly forbidden from 9am, transforming the street into a space entirely dedicated to browsing and bargain-hunting.

A Community Event with Strong Social Impact

The Comité des Fêtes du Quartier de l'Avenir, chaired by Alfred Rochefort, drives this annual event. Registrations take place at the annexe post office at 71 rue Jean-Jaurès, on Thursdays and Saturdays before the flea market, from 10am to 12pm.
