The great citizen flea market of the European Week for Sustainable Development
L'Île-Saint-Denis is no ordinary commune — set on an island in the Seine between Saint-Denis and Villeneuve-la-Garenne, it has developed a distinctive identity, both working-class and environmentally conscious. For nearly thirty years, the municipality has organized its annual flea market, one of the oldest and most regular in Seine-Saint-Denis. In 2026, the event reaches its 30th edition.
The flea market takes place during the European Week for Sustainable Development (EWSD) each late September. This eco-responsible dimension gives it a strong identity: buying and selling second-hand here is not just an economic act but a commitment to reuse and the fight against waste.
The event is held on Quai du Saule Fleuri, one of the quays lining the Seine on L'Île-Saint-Denis. Vendors set up by the riverside, in a green environment where willows and poplars create a countryside atmosphere just outside Paris. Visitors stroll between stalls enjoying views of the Seine.
Free entry for visitors, 9am to 7pm. On-site registration accepted on the day: €10 for 2 linear meters. Online registration also available.
