Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, the birthplace of Nostradamus, famous for the Gallo-Roman archaeological site of Glanum and the Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery where Vincent Van Gogh stayed and painted over 150 works, offers a remarkable heritage setting at the foot of the Alpilles massif.
Each summer, the merchants and artisans of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence gather for the Grande Braderie Estivale, organized by the association Label Union. This annual event transforms the city center into a vast space for bargains, where Saint-Rémy shops take over Place Jules-Pellissier and the surrounding streets to offer exceptional discounts on their collections. Fashion, accessories, decoration, local crafts: the offer is varied and reflects the richness of the commercial fabric of this Provençal town.
The Grande Braderie Estivale is a true open-air shop clearance. Merchants from Label Union display their items on the sidewalks and in the squares shaded by century-old plane trees, creating a friendly and festive atmosphere typical of the southern French trading traditions. Visitors can find clothing, shoes, jewelry, decorative items, Provençal products, and many other items at reduced prices. Entry is free and open to all.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence (13210) is a city of art and history nestled at the foot of the Alpilles massif, in the Bouches-du-Rhône department. Birthplace of Nostradamus, born on December 14, 1503, in a house on Rue Hoche, it houses the archaeological site of Glanum, a Gallo-Roman city founded in the 6th century BC, whose municipal arch and the mausoleum of the Julii are among the best-preserved ancient monuments in Provence. The Saint-Paul de Mausole monastery, a former Romanesque priory from the 12th century, has entered art history for having hosted Vincent Van Gogh from May 1889 to May 1890. During this year of voluntary confinement, the Dutch painter created more than 150 canvases, including the famous *Starry Night* and *Irises*.
The association Label Union brings together the merchants and artisans of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence for events that punctuate the life of the city throughout the year: seasonal street sales, creator markets, Easter celebrations, gourmet markets, and Christmas animations. The Grande Braderie Estivale is one of the highlights of this calendar, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to enjoy the Provençal summer while supporting local commerce. The exceptional setting of the Regional Natural Park of the Alpilles, which surrounds Saint-Rémy, adds to the appeal of this day of open-air shopping, amidst century-old olive groves, fragrant garrigue, and sun-drenched limestone landscapes.
