The Mennecy Autumn Grande Braderie: the second rendezvous of the year

Mennecy has the rare distinction of organising two major braderies per year on the Avenue Darblay. While the Spring Braderie takes place on the last Sunday of May, the Autumn Braderie occupies September — two popular events making Mennecy one of the most active Essonne communes for outdoor events.

The Autumn Braderie, organised by the town hall (contact: 01 69 90 80 68), follows the same formula as its spring counterpart: Avenue Darblay closed to traffic, 200 tables installed between the Gare roundabout and the Parc de Villeroy roundabout, open 8:30am to 6pm. Free entry for visitors.

If the Spring Braderie benefits from the first sunshine and May warmth, the Autumn Braderie has its own appeal: September's warm colours, the first golden leaves in the nearby Parc de Villeroy, and the pleasant early-autumn freshness that makes strolling a pleasure. Sellers and buyers alike enjoy this seasonal context that adds a special charm to the day.

A back-to-school market, before the festive season

September is back-to-school time. Families returning from holidays sort through belongings, clear children's rooms, make space. The braderie is perfectly timed to absorb these second-hand goods: autumn/winter clothing, toys children have outgrown, school books, seasonal sports equipment. For buyers, it's the chance to dress the family for winter at low cost.
