The Grand Marché aux Puces de Hausgauen is one of those popular and authentic events that give the Alsatian countryside its charm in spring. Organized annually by the Hausgauen Football Club, it takes over the village streets — including rue du Vignoble — from dawn for a day of bargain hunting that lasts until 5 pm. The 2026 edition is scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2026.

Hausgauen, a quiet village in the heart of Sundgau

Hausgauen (68130) is a small village of about 350 inhabitants located in the Sundgau region, a few kilometers from Altkirch. This bocage and hilly area in southern Alsace, extending to the Swiss and German borders, is dotted with picturesque villages where community life plays a fundamental role in maintaining social ties. The local football club is one of these pillars of community life, and the organization of the annual flea market is one of its most unifying expressions.

The rue du Vignoble — whose name recalls that this region was once more focused on wine than it is today — hosts part of the exhibitors, alongside the other streets of the village. The rural setting, the friendliness of the inhabitants, and the relaxed atmosphere of a village market contribute to the repeated success of this event.

The Grand Marché aux Puces de Hausgauen is primarily a market for individuals: neighbors, residents of surrounding towns, and occasional sellers come to clear out their everyday items, books and vinyl records, out-of-fashion clothes, childhood toys, mismatched tableware, and tools stored in the garage. It is precisely this human and non-professional dimension that gives the market its endearing character.

You can make unexpected discoveries: a set of Alsatian porcelain, picture books from the 1960s, tools from disappearing trades, artisanal wooden toys, typical Sundgau clothing. Anything can be found at these village markets, provided you get up early!

Prices and organization

Pitches are offered at a rate of €15 for 6 meters, which is an affordable price encouraging individual participation. The day begins at 7 am for exhibitors and ends at 5 pm. Entry is free and open to all visitors. The Hausgauen FC ensures supervision and generally offers friendly catering to make this day a true village festival.
