Grand annual car boot sale on July 14th in the classified medieval village of La Bégude-de-Mazenc
La Bégude-de-Mazenc is one of the jewels of the Drôme provençale. Classified among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, this perched medieval village overlooks the plain and wooded hills separating the Rhône valley from the Vercors massif. Every July 14th, it hosts its grand annual car boot sale, which transforms its narrow streets into a flea market like no other.
La Bégude-de-Mazenc belongs to the network of the Most Beautiful Villages of France, a distinction that rewards its remarkably preserved medieval architectural heritage. The cut stone houses, vaulted alleyways, fountains, and viewpoints over the Drôme provençale create a postcard-perfect setting that further enhances the appeal of the annual car boot sale. Bargain hunters and tourists mingle in these paved streets on the national holiday, creating a festive and authentic atmosphere.
As in many villages in the Drôme, July 14th is the occasion for a complete popular festival in La Bégude-de-Mazenc. The car boot sale is one of the morning highlights, before giving way in the afternoon to entertainment, concerts, and the traditional fireworks in the evening. Exhibitors offer furniture, tableware, toys, clothing, books, and objects of all kinds, in the tradition of a popular car boot sale.
La Bégude-de-Mazenc is surrounded by oak and pine forests, vineyards, and lavender fields, in a typically Provençal landscape, although located north of Mont Ventoux. Hikes in the surrounding area, tasting local wines and olive oils, and enjoying the scenery complement the visit to the July 14th car boot sale.
