Every Ascension Thursday, the Foyer Rural fills the streets of one of France's Most Beautiful Villages
La Roche-Guyon (95780) is one of the most remarkable villages in Île-de-France. Listed among France's Most Beautiful Villages, nestled between the Seine and the high chalk cliffs of the Vexin, this village of 500 inhabitants attracts thousands of visitors each year. Every Ascension Thursday, the Foyer Rural de La Roche-Guyon organises its grande brocante, transforming the cobbled streets into a vast open-air second-hand market.
In 2026, the flea market takes place on Thursday 14 May from 8 AM. Sellers set up on rue du Docteur Duval and adjacent streets, at the foot of the troglodyte castle whose caves carved into the cliff are a classified historic site. The setting is unique in Val-d'Oise: chalk cliffs on one side, the Seine riverbanks and the castle gardens (listed Historic Monuments) on the other.
The Foyer Rural de La Roche-Guyon is the reference association for village life. It runs the community hall, organises evenings, walks, and every Ascension, this grande brocante that mobilises the local community. The event, which brings together private sellers and professionals, appeals to seasoned collectors and families alike.
