The Grand Commequiers Castle flea market is run on Sunday 17 May 2026 by Les Amis du Vieux Château. Absolutely unique setting: 15th-c. medieval castle ruins, listed Monument Historique. The association restores and enlivens this exceptional site year-round - this flea market is one of their flagship events.

Proceeds entirely fund restoration and site activities. Supporting this flea market means supporting a major Vendée heritage. The atmosphere, between old walls and market stalls, is absolutely one-of-a-kind.

Commequiers and its remarkable medieval castle

About 2,900 inhabitants, Nord-Vendée, halfway between Challans (12 km N) and Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie (13 km W). The village is marked by its medieval castle, whose imposing ruins tower over it - among Vendée's most significant defensive remains.

Built in the 15th century, the castle played a strategic role in the Hundred Years' War and later the Wars of Religion. Les Amis du Vieux Château work passionately on preservation and public opening. Several events year-round: medieval shows, craft markets, plant fair.
