Large flea market and garage sale in the streets of Vimoutiers town centre
The Vimoutiers en fête garage sale takes place every year in August in the streets of this town in the Pays d'Auge area of Orne, famous for its Camembert cheese. Organised by the twinning committee and the firefighters' association, it welcomes around 250 exhibitors over two days. Free entry.
Every summer, the town of Vimoutiers — known for its statue dedicated to Marie Harel, inventor of Camembert — comes alive for a weekend of flea market and festivities. The town centre streets are filled with stalls offering furniture, crockery, clothing, toys, books and collectibles.
In addition to the garage sale, a local produce market is set up on Place de Mackau, showcasing Pays d'Auge products: Camembert, cider, Calvados, cured meats and Norman specialities.
