The spring rendezvous of the Gandalou neighbourhood
In the heart of spring, the Gandalou Festival Committee enlivens the Halle Occitane in Castelsarrasin with its traditional flea market. Private sellers and bargain hunters gather in this well-known covered hall, near the canal and port. An unmissable rendezvous opening the flea market season in Tarn-et-Garonne.
The Gandalou neighbourhood, a former village attached to Castelsarrasin, keeps alive this beloved tradition every spring: the flea market organised by its dynamic Festival Committee.
Built in 1997 for the fat market, the 1,805 sqm Halle Occitane offers an ideal sheltered volume. Located at the town centre entrance, near the canal, port and railway station, it is easily accessible.
Mainly private sellers from Castelsarrasin and nearby villages. Toys, lightly worn clothing, china, tools, books and records. The €2.50 per linear metre rate encourages diverse stalls.
Gandalou, once an independent commune, has kept its church, festival committee and identity. This event animates the neighbourhood as much as the wider town.
Arrive early for the best pieces and easy parking. The hall is covered, so weather is not an issue. Bring cash and a sturdy bag.
