Great summer flea market by US Changis at Ussy-sur-Marne stadium, in the Marne valley
At the height of summer, Ussy-sur-Marne's D. Offroy municipal stadium hosts the Football Flea Market, flagship event of US Changis club. This brocante, which owes its originality and longevity to the volunteer commitment of club members, attracts a large crowd not only from neighbouring communes in the Marne valley, but also from Meaux, La Ferté-sous-Jouarre and the neighbouring Marne department. With about 150 exhibitors setting up their stalls from 6 am, the flea market unfolds its aisles until 6 pm, offering a very long time window to visitors.
The concept is as simple as it is effective: US Changis organises this great annual flea market to fund its sports activities, equipment, away games and youth training. Profits from pitch fees and catering allow the club to maintain its membership, offer affordable rates to families and invest in local community life. Buying your pitch or attending the flea market is thus also a way to support amateur football and the sporting vitality of the village.
Pitches are offered at 4 euros per linear metre with a 3-metre minimum, an accessible pricing that attracts both private sellers clearing attics and small regular dealers. For information and registration, organisers can be reached at 06 45 37 07 04. On-site refreshments and catering, run by club volunteers, let both hunters and exhibitors eat without leaving the site. The large stadium car park facilitates access and loading of purchases.
Stalls offer the classic flea market range: antique crockery, glassware, linens, toys, books, vinyls, vintage clothing, small furniture, tools and curios. Some exhibitors specialise in particular themes: sports collectibles, football memorabilia, old toys, comics or militaria. The diversity and summer atmosphere, in the green setting of the stadium surrounded by fields and woods, make this gathering a must-visit for Seine-et-Marne bargain hunters.
Ussy-sur-Marne is a peaceful village in the Marne valley, located between La Ferté-sous-Jouarre and Meaux, which enjoys a particular literary reputation: the writer Samuel Beckett owned a country house there where he came to work and find serenity, and while buried in Montparnasse cemetery, he remains associated with this Brie village. The town retains its church, old farms and a markedly rural character, in a preserved setting between the Marne, the northern vineyard slopes and the southern cereal plateaus.
The Marne valley offers many possibilities to bargain hunters: La Ferté-sous-Jouarre and its monuments, Jouarre and its abbey with the oldest crypts in France, Meaux with its cathedral and Great War Museum, the Champagne slopes near Saâcy-sur-Marne and the peaceful meanders of the river. The region also produces the famous Brie de Meaux, to discover at local artisan cheese-makers.
The Football Flea Market is held at the D. Offroy municipal stadium, Chemin de Laval, Ussy-sur-Marne (77260), in early July. Hours: 6 am to 6 pm. About 150 exhibitors. Free admission for visitors. Exhibitor fee: 4 €/m, 3 m minimum. Catering, refreshments, on-site parking. Contact: 06 45 37 07 04.
