Every year in April, the village of Fontenailles (77370) comes alive to the rhythm of its flea market - car boot sale, organized by Association Le Lien de Fontenailles. This spring event transforms several village streets into a vast open-air market: rue de Grignon, the municipal stadium, rue des Charmilles, and rue Raymond Leclerc are covered with stalls welcoming exhibitors and visitors in a festive atmosphere.

A community event at the heart of the village

Like many village flea markets in Seine-et-Marne, the one in Fontenailles is run by a dynamic local association. Association Le Lien works year-round to enliven community life and mobilize residents around solidarity projects. The annual flea market is both a major festive event and a source of funding for the association's actions.

A car boot sale open to all

The event welcomes private sellers coming to empty their attics as well as a few semi-professional dealers. The items on offer are therefore very varied: second-hand furniture, clothing and accessories, toys and games for children, books and comics, dishware, trinkets and decorative objects, tools and garden equipment, CDs, DVDs, vinyl records, and sometimes beautiful surprises unearthed from old attics in Brie. Prices are generally modest.

Fontenailles is a typical central Brie village, located halfway between Melun and Provins. Its rural and calm setting, surrounded by grain fields and woods, makes it a pleasant place to come bargain hunting with family. Visitors can combine their flea market day with a visit to the surrounding area: Château de Blandy-les-Tours a few kilometers away, the medieval city of Provins (UNESCO listed) about thirty minutes away, or the nearby Villefermoy forest.

The Fontenailles car boot sale is held on Sunday 12 April 2026, in the village streets, from 5:30 AM to about 6 PM. Free entry for visitors. Private sellers wishing to exhibit should contact Association Le Lien de Fontenailles. Free parking in the village.
