August flea market in the medieval town of Saint-Gaultier, on the banks of the Creuse
The Saint-Gaultier flea market is a summer highlight in the Creuse valley. This small medieval town perched above the river welcomes exhibitors and bargain hunters in its picturesque streets for a day of flea marketing combining heritage and finds.
In early August, the small town of Saint-Gaultier (36800) hosts its annual flea market. Exhibitors take over the streets and squares of this medieval town perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking the Creuse. You can find antique furniture, trinkets, tableware, books, collectibles, vinyl records, tools, and various curiosities. The atmosphere combines the conviviality of a Berry fair with the beauty of a remarkable heritage site, with refreshments and food available on site.
Saint-Gaultier is a commune of about 1,800 inhabitants, built on a rocky promontory above the Creuse valley. The town retains a rich medieval heritage: the former Benedictine priory, the Romanesque church of Saint-Gaultier with its carved capitals, and narrow streets lined with old houses. The site offers a spectacular panorama of the valley and the meanders of the Creuse. Since 2007, Saint-Gaultier has been a Station Verte, a label attesting to the quality of its natural environment and tourist welcome.
The flea market is held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 in the streets of the town center. Free admission. Refreshments and food available on site.
The Saint-Gaultier flea market returns on Saturday, August 1, 2026, in the streets of the medieval town.
