Bargain hunting in the heart of the Mellois bocage, among orchards and limestone
The Clussais-la-Pommeraie flea market brings together around 95 exhibitors in this typical village of southern Deux-Sèvres. Nestled in the Mellois bocage at 147 metres altitude, this commune of 570 inhabitants comes alive each year in May around this event that attracts bargain hunters and families from the surrounding area.
Clussais-la-Pommeraie is one of those discreet villages of the Mellois bocage that comes alive for a flea market. With around 95 exhibitors expected, this event reflects the commune: friendly, authentic and rooted in its terroir.
The mixed nature of this flea market means you can find both antique items — old furniture, faience, copper objects, farm tools — and attic bric-a-brac from private sellers: toys, books, clothing, crockery and trinkets of all kinds.
The name Clussais-la-Pommeraie evokes the apple orchards that once adorned this part of Poitou. The village, located between Sauzé-Vaussais and Melle, extends over 31 km² of rolling bocage at 147 metres altitude.
Coming to the Clussais-la-Pommeraie flea market is also an opportunity to discover the charms of the Mellois bocage. The nearby town of Melle with its famous Frankish King silver mines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, adds cultural interest.
