The autumn réderie of a Picard plateau village
The autumn réderie of Molliens-Dreuil brings together every October bargain hunters and residents in the streets of this Picard plateau village, halfway between Amiens and Abbeville. A typical event of the Somme department, it offers in an authentic village atmosphere the classic items of flea markets: crockery, clothing, books, toys and family bric-à-brac.
Molliens-Dreuil is a Somme town born in 1972 from the merger of the villages of Molliens-Vidame and Dreuil-lès-Molliens. Located on the Picard plateau between the Somme and Selle valleys, it retains the rural character that makes all the charm of this corner of western Picardy.
The October réderie is one of the two important annual events of the local calendar, along with the Saint-Simon Fair held a week later. The streets of the town center fill with stalls where residents of the town and surrounding villages empty their attics. The use of the word réderie, typical of Picardy, recalls the strong regional identity of the Somme.
The offer is essentially that of a family flea market: mismatched crockery and glassware, household linen, children's and adult clothing, shoes, toys, childcare items, paperback books, comics, records, small decorations, trinkets. Some years also bring farm tools, rural objects and light wooden furniture typical of Picard homes.
What makes Somme réderies special is their dual commercial and social nature. People don't come only to bargain hunt, but also to meet their neighbors, chat with exhibitors, have a coffee at the village bistro or share a frite-saucisse at the refreshment bar.
For bargain hunters coming from further away, Molliens-Dreuil is a pleasant stop on the road to Abbeville. The town is about twenty kilometers west of Amiens, easily accessible via the D211. The surroundings offer several possibilities for discovery: the Selle valley, the Rambures castle, or the Somme valley and its famous Amiens floating gardens.
The 2026 Molliens-Dreuil réderie takes place on Sunday, October 18, 2026 in the streets of the town. An authentic Picard event, it brings together individuals and bargain hunters for a day of village flea market at the heart of the Picard plateau.
