First edition of a new autumn flea market on rue de Paris and Place du Général de Gaulle
The First La Ferté-Gaucher Flea Market is a new event scheduled for October 1, 2026 in this historic town of the Grand Morin valley. Set up on rue de Paris and Place du Général de Gaulle, in the heart of the city center, this first edition aims to join the club of great bargain hunting gatherings in northeastern Seine-et-Marne, in a commune where commerce is a centuries-old tradition. A great opportunity to discover the Briard city and support a new local initiative.
October 1, 2026 marks the birth of a new gathering on the Seine-et-Marne flea market calendar: the First La Ferté-Gaucher Flea Market. This unprecedented event is set up on rue de Paris and on Place du Général de Gaulle, two major arteries of the city center of this Briard commune, to offer bargain hunters a new highlight at the beginning of autumn, at a time conducive to beautiful sunny but cool days, ideal for spending several hours strolling between the stands.
Although this flea market is a first, it is part of a long commercial history. La Ferté-Gaucher is indeed one of the oldest trading cities in Brie: its weekly market is attested as early as 1177 by an official act, which means that the city has been hosting commercial exchanges on its squares for nearly nine centuries without interruption. Organizing a flea market in this commune means being part of a real tradition of exchanges, meetings, and negotiations that is part of the city's DNA.
The installation of this new flea market on rue de Paris and Place du Général de Gaulle is not trivial: these are two of the most central and most frequented places in the commune. Rue de Paris is one of the main commercial arteries, while Place du Général de Gaulle constitutes an important public space where popular events traditionally take place.
Each first edition of an event is a challenge for the organizers. It is an opportunity for visitors, whether they are passionate bargain hunters or simple walkers, to come and support this new event and contribute to its success. First flea markets often have a particular charm: the organizers' emulation, the desire to do well, the mutual discovery between exhibitors and visitors, everything contributes to creating a special atmosphere.
Beyond the flea market, La Ferté-Gaucher is a tourist destination that deserves to be (re)discovered. Nestled in the beautiful Grand Morin valley, surrounded by preserved Briard landscapes, it offers visitors a historical heritage, a gourmet terroir (the famous Brie!), and the atmosphere of a still-living small provincial town.
The First La Ferté-Gaucher Flea Market is held on rue de Paris and Place du Général de Gaulle. Free admission for visitors. Access from Paris via the N4 or A4 (Coulommiers exit) then the D407.
