Triaize is a village of about 1,100 in southern Vendée, between Luçon and L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer, on the edge of the Marais Poitevin. A typical village where community life follows the seasons and the Fête de la Bouse — annual village fête — is the big summer event. Run by the Foyer rural, it combines festive tradition, family entertainment and a large flea market.

The 2026 flea market is Sunday 26 July 2026 on the Triaize racecourse grounds. With 100+ exhibitors, one of summer's biggest hunts in this Marais Poitevin area. Festive, family atmosphere, varied entertainment and coastal proximity make it a favourite.

Fête de la Bouse, a tradition

One of those original village fêtes rural France specialises in. The name humorously evokes farming and marsh work. Flea market, country meal, kids' activities, games and dance traditionally combined.

Triaize, gateway to the Marais Poitevin

Triaize is a Marais Poitevin community, between dry and wet marsh. Its territory, once entirely sea, was reclaimed over centuries through patient canal work. It produces quality salt, renowned Vendée mogette beans, and hosts rich natural heritage (migratory birds, endemic plants).

A summer setting

The racecourse offers a vast open space, ideal for a summer event. Hunters love the scale, side entertainment, village-fête vibe. Easy to combine with L'Aiguillon-sur-Mer or La Faute-sur-Mer for a swim.
