About Fête aux Ânes Luzech

Every late spring, the association Les Amis des Ânes of Luzech organizes the Fête aux Ânes, a three-day festive event dedicated to donkeys and the rural traditions of Quercy. The car boot sale with about forty exhibitors is one of the highlights of this unique event, which combines carriage competitions, donkey rides, and activities for the whole family.

The Fête aux Ânes and its Car Boot Sale in Luzech

In Luzech, the Fête aux Ânes is much more than just an event: it's a unique festive and cultural gathering, organized by the association Les Amis des Ânes de Luzech over three days in late spring. Among the many activities offered, the car boot sale holds a prime place, bringing together around forty exhibitors each year in a typically bucolic Quercy setting.

A festival dedicated to donkeys and rural traditions

The donkey, an emblematic animal of the rural landscapes of Quercy and Périgord, is honored here for a festive weekend. The association Les Amis des Ânes de Luzech organizes walking and carriage handling competitions, donkey and cart rides for the public, and presents the diversity of donkey breeds. The event brings together donkey owners from all over Occitanie and beyond, in a good-natured and passionate atmosphere.

A lively and friendly car boot sale

The car boot sale takes place alongside the festival's activities. From opening, about forty exhibitors offer trinkets, country objects, clothes, books, toys, and various curiosities. The atmosphere is particularly warm: visitors who came to see the donkeys find themselves browsing between demonstrations, making the car boot sale a meeting and exchange space appreciated by all.

Program of the Fête aux Ânes

The event spans three days. On Friday, exhibitors of the car boot sale, artisans, and producers are welcomed from 7 am. On Saturday at 9 am, the festival and funfair open with the presence of associations, followed by walking and carriage handling competitions at 9:30 am. In the afternoon, donkey and cart rides for the public start at 2:30 pm. The festival continues on Sunday with new activities to close this exceptional weekend.

Luzech, a remarkable commune

Luzech is famous for its remarkable peninsula formed by a meander of the Lot river and for its oppidum occupied since antiquity. Its natural setting between vineyards, cliffs, and river offers an ideal backdrop for a rural festival of this scale. Visitors can take the opportunity to explore the medieval streets of the town and the commune's archaeological museum.
