Flea market and traditional Bernache fair in Reugny, celebration of new wine in Vouvray
The Foire à la Bernache de Reugny is an annual popular festival that combines a flea market, tasting of bernache — the sparkling new wine from the Vouvray vineyard — and fairground entertainment. Around 100 exhibitors set up in the village center on the last Sunday of October.
The Foire à la Bernache de Reugny celebrates the new wine from the Vouvray vineyard every last Sunday of October. Bernache is grape juice in the early stages of alcoholic fermentation, sparkling, very fruity, with an alcohol content not exceeding 5°, which is drunk four to five days after the harvest. This ancestral wine tradition gives rise to a popular festival where the flea market plays a central role: around 100 exhibitors, both professional and private, offer furniture, tableware, trinkets, books, tools, vintage clothing, collectibles, and curiosities in the village streets.
Reugny (37380) is a wine-growing commune in the Brenne Valley, about fifteen kilometers northeast of Tours, in the heart of the AOC Vouvray appellation. The village boasts remarkable heritage with the Château de la Vallière, home of Louise de la Vallière, favorite of Louis XIV, and its troglodyte cellars dug into the tuffeau stone. The Reugny winemakers' association perpetuates the bernache tradition and has animated the fair for decades.
The Foire à la Bernache combines fairground rides, stands for bernache tasting and local products, and a flea market in the village streets. The atmosphere is that of an authentic popular festival. Admission is free.
The Foire à la Bernache de Reugny returns on October 26, 2026, with a flea market and tastings.
