The Villefranche-du-Périgord Antique Dealers Fair: 55 Years of Tradition

For over half a century, the bastide town of Villefranche-du-Périgord has hosted its Antique Dealers Fair, which has become over the decades one of the flagship events for antique hunting and dealers in the Dordogne. This 55th edition perpetuates a remarkable tradition, making this fair one of the oldest in the department.

Under the Medieval Market Hall and on the Place de la Liberté

The setting for the fair is exceptional: antique dealers set up under the medieval market hall with its stone pillars, in the adjoining hall, on the Place de la Halle, and under a marquee erected for the occasion. The diversity of locations allows for a wide range of items to be presented: regional furniture from the 18th and 19th centuries, earthenware from the Southwest, paintings, silverware, lighting, display case items, old books, and collector's curiosities.

Villefranche-du-Périgord, Bastide of Périgord Noir

Founded in 1261, Villefranche-du-Périgord is a medieval bastide town located in the south of Périgord Noir, on the borders of Quercy. The commune is known for its stone-pillared market hall, its arcades, its chestnut market, and its Autumn Fair. Surrounded by chestnut and walnut forests, the bastide offers a preserved rural setting, halfway between Sarlat and Cahors.

A Reference Event for Antique Dealers

The Villefranche-du-Périgord Antique Dealers Fair is coordinated by Mr. Gallinato, who ensures the quality of the exhibitors and the organization of the event. The opening night on Friday evening offers a special atmosphere, with antiques highlighted by the lighting of the market hall and the marquee. The fair is open from 9 am to 7 pm on Saturday and Sunday.
