Festival and traditional flea market in Wardrecques
The Ducasse Brocante of Wardrecques combines the traditional village festival (ducasse) with a popular flea market. This typically Northern French alliance mixes festive conviviality with the pleasure of bargain hunting. The village of Wardrecques, in the Aa valley between Saint-Omer and Aire-sur-la-Lys, buzzes to the rhythm of the funfair rides, refreshment stands, and flea market stalls.
The ducasse (or kermesse) is a deeply rooted tradition in the culture of the Hauts-de-France region. In Wardrecques, it is complemented by a flea market that takes over the village streets. Funfair rides, food stalls, and refreshment stands accompany the bargain hunters' stalls for a complete popular festival.
The village of Wardrecques, normally peaceful in its Aa valley, comes alive especially during its ducasse. It's an opportunity for residents from neighboring towns to gather in a festive and popular atmosphere, between flea market finds and local delicacies like fries, carbonade, or waffles.
