Spring rendezvous in a small Loudunais village
Craon is a tiny village of barely 185 inhabitants in the north of Vienne, part of the Pays Loudunais. Its annual vide-grenier on Sunday 17 May 2026 at Place Saint-Michel is a major event on the local calendar: tiny town, very active community.
With about 80 exhibitors, Craon's vide-grenier is one of the most attended in the smaller Loudunais villages. Organisers welcome both private sellers and a few brocante professionals, producing a varied mix: antique furniture, china, clothes, toys, trinkets, books, tools. Exhibitors from 7am, visitors 8am-7pm.
Place Saint-Michel offers an ideal human-scale setting, partly shaded, letting exhibitors spread out and visitors browse at leisure. Refreshments run by village volunteers: fries, grilled sausages, drinks.
Typical small rural village vibe: as much about chining as about chatting with neighbours and enjoying a spring day outdoors. That's the real charm.
Craon is in the Community of Communes of Pays Loudunais, at the borders of Vienne, Anjou and Touraine. 185 Craonnais inhabitants, 21.6 km² of Poitou bocage. Near Maisonneuve, Massognes, Mazeuil, La Grimaudière. Loudun sub-prefecture 20 minutes away.
Arrive before 9am for best finds. Bring cash, a basket or folding trolley, comfortable shoes.
Loudun old town, Monts-sur-Guesnes castle, Haut-Poitou vineyards nearby. A few bocage farm inns for a great day end.
