Bargain hunting on Place Joseph Sigaud
Cotignac, between Brignoles and Salernes, is one of the Var's most remarkable villages. Its identity is marked by the spectacular tuff cliff overlooking it, pierced with troglodyte caves and crowned by twin medieval towers. The main cours, shaded by century-old plane trees, hosts terraces, cafés and shops. The village holds Station Verte and Station de Tourisme labels and is home to the Notre-Dame-de-Grâces sanctuary, a valued pilgrimage site.
Place Joseph Sigaud, one of the village's central squares, periodically hosts the brocante. Well placed between the main cours and old-town alleys, it lets hunters combine market with village discovery. Plane-tree and building shade are welcome.
The village's quality draws demanding exhibitors, mostly Dracénie, Haut-Var and Aix-area professional dealers. The offer favours antique Provençal furniture, Moustiers and Salernes faience, tradition tableware, glassware, embroidered linen, old postcards, copperware, religious objects (linked to the sanctuary), character bric-a-brac. Prices align with quality.
Cotignac isn't just a brocante stop : it's a village worth a trip on its own. Tuff cliff and trail, sanctuary, many fountains, Tuesday market, wine estates (Côtes de Provence, quality organic), nearby Sillans waterfall : plenty of reasons to linger.
Early parking (outer recommended). Combine with village and cliff. Estate tastings around. Extend toward Salernes, Entrecasteaux or Carcès for a full Haut-Var day.
Flea market organized by Broc 83. Free entry for bargain hunters.
Exhibitor registration: bakery Place de la République, or by phone at 06 15 91 18 84.
