A market like no other: Asnières children (ages 6-16) run their own stalls — Square Maréchal Joffre, every September
The Asnières-sur-Seine Children's Flea Market is a one-of-a-kind municipal event: children aged 6 to 16 run their own stalls selling toys, games, books, sports gear and clothes. Organised by the Town Hall every autumn at Square Maréchal Joffre, rue Pierre Brossolette, it is a joyful introduction to the circular economy and entrepreneurship, set in a leafy park beside the Seine.
The Asnières-sur-Seine Children's Flea Market is a truly unique event in the Hauts-de-Seine brocante scene. Rather than professional dealers and adult sellers, this market hands the stalls over to the town's children and teenagers, aged 6 to 16. The concept is simple and inspiring: each young Asnières resident selects toys, games, books, clothing, sports equipment or other items they no longer need, and offers them for sale from their own pitch. It is at once a pedagogical, economic and social experience, fully in line with the spirit of responsible consumption.
The event takes place at Square Maréchal Joffre, rue Pierre Brossolette, in the Bords de Seine neighbourhood of Asnières-sur-Seine. This leafy square, close to the banks of the Seine, provides an ideal family-friendly setting. Around 200 young sellers set up from 9:30am until 6:00pm, and admission is free for all visitors. Items on offer reflect the world of childhood: board games, toys, picture books, comics, children's clothing, sports equipment, cuddly toys and more — all at very accessible prices.
Beyond the fun, the Children's Flea Market carries a strong message about the value of objects and responsible consumption. By selling their own belongings, children learn to set prices, negotiate and understand what others find valuable. The Town Hall's Events Department (01 41 11 15 66) manages registrations, open to children aged 6-16 residing in Asnières-sur-Seine.
