Second-hand clothing, toys and games in the heart of Castres
Halfway between a generic flea market and a specialised swap, this 1 May event in Castres targets three reuse-friendly worlds: textile, toys and games. In the Tarn's sub-prefecture, famous for its colourful houses along the Agout river and its Goya museum, this May Day fair offers an alternative to the usual crowded vide-greniers.
Thrift stalls offer clothing for children, teens and adults, accessories, shoes, bags and sometimes nice vintage pieces. Toys section features plushies, figures, early-years toys, outdoor toys, scooters, children's bikes and baby gear. Games stalls bring board games, puzzles, retro video games and vintage consoles to delight collectors.
The 1 May date is perfect for a family outing. Parents and children browse, bargain and leave with a little novelty. It is also a chance for families to resell items their growing children no longer use.
Castres offers a gorgeous heritage backdrop. Between the houses on the Agout, the Saint-Benoît cathedral, the bishop's garden designed by Le Nôtre and the local rugby tradition, the visit easily extends into an afternoon stroll.
