Every autumn, the Plogoneg–Llandysul twinning committee organizes its car boot sale at the Salle Arpège in Plogonnec (29180). This end-of-season event brings together about fifty private exhibitors offering adult and children's clothing, shoes, toys, books, tableware, decoration, and everyday items at low prices, in a friendly and family atmosphere.

The profits from the event contribute to funding the Franco-Welsh exchanges and trips organized by the twinning committee between Plogonnec and its Welsh twin town of Llandysul. The twinning between the two municipalities is a fine illustration of the cultural ties between Brittany and Wales, two Celtic regions sharing a similar history and linguistic heritage.

Plogonnec and Llandysul: a Celtic twinning

Plogonnec (29180) is a commune in Finistère, about ten kilometers west of Quimper, in the Glazik region. Its twinning committee has maintained friendship ties with Llandysul, a small town in Ceredigion, Wales, for several decades. These exchanges allow residents of both municipalities to meet, discover their respective cultures, and build lasting bonds between the two communities.

Like all twinning committees, the Plogonnec association finances its activities by organizing popular events such as the car boot sale. The Salle Arpège, located at Rue du Stade, regularly hosts this autumn event, which has become a popular gathering for the residents of the commune and its surroundings.

Practical information for exhibitors

Private exhibitors wishing to participate in the car boot sale pay a pitch fee to the organizing committee. The event is held indoors at the Salle Arpège, 35 rue du Stade, Plogonnec, from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Admission is €1.50 for visitors (free for children under 12).
