Car boot sale in the native village of Jean-Henri Fabre, in the Lévézou aveyronnais
The Vide-Grenier de Saint-Léons is an annual event organized by the association Ô Terradou in this small village of Lévézou, in Aveyron. The event is held at the Espace Jean-Henri Fabre and outdoors, in the cradle of the famous entomologist born here in 1823. Bargain hunters and exhibitors meet in a picturesque setting between causses and granite plateaus, for a friendly day of good deals and village encounters.
Each year, the village of Saint-Léons hosts its car boot sale at the Espace Jean-Henri Fabre and its outdoor surroundings. Organized by the association Ô Terradou, this popular event brings together private exhibitors and bargain hunters in an authentic setting in the Lévézou, in the heart of Aveyron. Dozens of stalls offer second-hand items, clothing, tableware, toys, books, and trinkets at low prices, in a warm and family atmosphere.
Saint-Léons is a small village of about 400 inhabitants nestled at the junction of the Causse Rouge and the ancient massif of Lévézou. The village is world-renowned as the birthplace of Jean-Henri Fabre (1823-1915), a naturalist and entomologist whose Souvenirs entomologiques marked the history of natural sciences. His birthplace, labeled Maison des Illustres, is open to the public and retraces the life and work of this scientist passionate about the world of insects.
The Espace Jean-Henri Fabre is a cultural and heritage site located in the center of the village. It houses exhibitions dedicated to the entomologist and regularly hosts cultural and associative events. It is in this unique setting that the car boot sale stalls are set up, both indoors and outdoors, offering visitors an original bargain hunting experience in an environment steeped in scientific history.
The territory of Saint-Léons extends between limestone plateaus and granite reliefs, in a preserved rural landscape typical of the south of Aveyron. The village is located near the lac de Pareloup, one of the largest artificial lakes in France, and not far from Micropolis, la Cité des Insectes, a scientific and fun park created in homage to Jean-Henri Fabre. This geographical location makes it a popular destination for lovers of nature, heritage, and green tourism.
The association Ô Terradou is the organizer of the Saint-Léons car boot sale. Active in promoting the local terroir and the associative life of the village, it also offers a tea room and a shop for local products in the heart of Saint-Léons. The association contributes to the cultural and friendly dynamic of this small village in Lévézou throughout the year.
The Saint-Léons car boot sale is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.. Entry is free for visitors. A refreshment stand is available on site. Exhibitors wishing to book a spot can contact the association Ô Terradou. It is advisable to come as early as possible to take advantage of the best selection and the morning freshness on the Lévézou plateau.
