Summer car boot sale on Boulevard de l'Océan, Saint-Brevin-les-Pins
Every June, the Boulevard de l'Océan in Saint-Brevin-les-Pins hosts an open-air car boot sale facing the sea. With around 140 exhibitors, this summer event offers visitors a unique treasure hunting experience, accompanied by the sound of the waves and the sea spray of the Atlantic. The seaside promenade transforms for a day into an open-air second-hand market.
Saint-Brevin-les-Pins is a seaside resort on the Côte de Jade, in Loire-Atlantique, at the mouth of the Loire River. Known for its fine sandy beaches, maritime pine forests, and the famous Sea Serpent sculpture by artist Huang Yong Ping adorning the Pont de Saint-Nazaire, the town attracts thousands of holidaymakers every summer. Its Boulevard de l'Océan, running along the seafront, is the main artery of the resort and a lively place during the summer season.
Approximately 140 exhibitors set up along the Boulevard de l'Océan every June to offer their finds to treasure hunters. The seaside atmosphere gives this car boot sale a special character: visitors, often passing holidaymakers, mingle with locals to rummage through the stalls. Summer clothes, beach books, toys, trinkets, and decorative items make up a large part of the goods on offer, in the relaxed spirit of summer days by the sea.
The car boot sale's location makes it unique: strolling among the stalls with a view of the Atlantic, feeling the sea breeze, and hearing the waves while looking for bargains is an experience few events can offer. The Boulevard de l'Océan, shaded by the pine trees that gave the resort its name, allows exhibitors and visitors to enjoy a pleasant setting even in the middle of June.
This car boot sale is part of Saint-Brevin-les-Pins' rich summer calendar. Night markets, concerts, nautical festivals, and beach entertainment punctuate the months of June to September in the resort. The Boulevard de l'Océan car boot sale is one of the early-season events, appreciated by locals and early holidaymakers, before the peak season of July-August.
