Antiquing and gardening in the historic village of Solférino
The Solférino car boot sale and plant fair combines traditional antiquing with a plant market and a craft market. Organized by the association Culture et Loisirs, this event is held near the town hall, in the Gare district of this historic village created by Napoleon III in the heart of the Landes forest. Pitches are €2 per linear meter, a pétanque competition and a refreshment stand complete the day.
The association Culture et Loisirs of Solférino organizes an original event each year combining a car boot sale, a plant fair, and a craft market. This triple event takes place in the Gare district, near the town hall, and attracts both antique hunters and gardening enthusiasts.
Solférino is a unique village in the Landes forest, created in 1863 by Emperor Napoleon III on a 7,400-hectare estate acquired in the Landes de Gascogne. Its name pays homage to the Battle of Solferino (1859) in Italy. The village, which has about 400 inhabitants, retains its original structure with its church, school, and houses lined up along the main road. This unique historic setting gives the event a special charm.
The plant fair allows nursery owners and amateur gardeners to offer plants, cuttings, seeds, and shrubs to visitors wishing to enhance their gardens. The classic car boot sale complements the offer with various second-hand items. A pétanque competition is also organized, adding a festive and sporting dimension to this rural day. The refreshment stand offers drinks and light snacks.
The Solférino car boot sale and plant fair returns on Sunday, April 26, 2026. Antiquing, plants, and crafts in the historic village of Napoleon III.
