Annual car boot sale organized by US Limeray Cangey in this wine-making village on the banks of the Loire
Each spring, the village of Limeray hosts its traditional car boot sale organized by US Limeray Cangey, the local sports club. With around 250 stalls, this event is one of the most popular treasure hunting destinations in the Loire Valley between Amboise and Vouvray. Individuals offer a wide range of items: clothing, toys, books, crockery, small furniture, tools, trinkets, and various curiosities, at always attractive prices.
Nestled on the right bank of the Loire, Limeray is a village of character with remarkable heritage. Its troglodyte cellars dug into the tuffeau, its Romanesque church, and its winegrower houses bear witness to a rich winemaking past. The village is at the heart of the AOC Touraine-Amboise, whose red and white wines are renowned. The car boot sale is part of this tradition of hospitality and conviviality that characterizes the Loire communities.
The earliest bargain hunters arrive at 6 am to spot the best deals. The refreshment stand and catering, provided by the sports club volunteers, offer drinks and grilled food to regain strength. After the hunt, visitors can extend the day by visiting the wine cellars and estates of Limeray and neighboring villages, or cycle along the Loire à Vélo route which passes nearby.
