The small village of Blieux, located in the mountains near Castellane, organizes a lavender festival every summer accompanied by a car boot sale. The event combines traditional lavender distillation with a producers' market and a car boot sale. Blieux is one of the most isolated villages in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, offering a wild and authentic setting.
Every summer, the tiny village of Blieux, lost in the mountains between Castellane and Digne-les-Bains, celebrates lavender with a traditional festival accompanied by a car boot sale. This event is one of the most authentic in the department.
Blieux is one of the most isolated villages in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, accessible by winding mountain roads. With only a few dozen permanent inhabitants, the village retains a wild and preserved character. The lavender festival and the car boot sale are among the few events that liven up this mountain hamlet.
The festival offers traditional lavender distillation using old methods, a market of local producers, and a car boot sale in the village alleys. The atmosphere is that of a Provençal village festival of yesteryear, far from mass tourism. Visitors come as much for the lavender as for the pleasure of discovering this remote corner of Haute-Provence.
The lavender festival and car boot sale return to Blieux in July 2026.
