The car boot sale of the thermal village of Gaas in Chalosse
Gaas is a small village in Chalosse, a hilly area southeast of Dax, renowned for its gastronomy and its landscapes of hills covered with vines and cornfields. The village's car boot sale takes place in the communal car park and in the Forsans hall, offering a treasure hunting space both indoors and outdoors.
Gaas has a thermal spring whose waters were already exploited in Gallo-Roman times. This thermal heritage, although less known than that of neighboring Dax, testifies to the ancient human occupation in this sector of Chalosse. The village has about 600 inhabitants and retains a rural and authentic character with its church, its washhouse, and its Béarnaise half-timbered houses.
The car boot sale of Gaas is a human-sized event, where people take the time to chat with sellers and rummage through each stall. Individuals offer the classics of a car boot sale: clothes, toys, crockery, books, trinkets, and small flea market items. The warm atmosphere typical of the Chalosse villages makes this day a moment of shared conviviality.
Gaas is accessible from Dax via the D27, about 15 km to the southeast.
