Every May 1st, the small village of Leucamp (15120) comes alive to host its traditional car boot sale and craft market. The Place Antonin Falière, in the heart of the village, transforms into a vast open-air market bringing together about a hundred exhibitors. Individuals clearing out their attics and local artisans coexist in a friendly and spring-like atmosphere, offering visitors an eclectic mix of second-hand items and artisanal creations.
Beyond the classic car boot sale, the event stands out with its craft market which highlights the know-how of the Châtaigneraie cantalienne. Cheese producers, honey sellers, jam makers, craftspeople, and local creators present their products and creations, offering visitors an authentic glimpse of the riches of the Cantal region. This dual offering makes the event a must-attend spring gathering in the south of Cantal.
Leucamp is a village perched at an altitude of 610 meters overlooking the Goul valley, in the heart of the Châtaigneraie cantalienne. The municipality preserves the memory of its mining past, linked to the extraction of tungsten for nearly fifty years. The Maison des Mineurs (Miners' House), at the foot of the church, bears witness to this industrial history. Hiking trails offer remarkable views of the valley and the north of Aveyron.
The association Hier et Nous Pour Leucamp organizes this event which contributes to animating the village and maintaining social connections in rural areas. From 8 am to 7 pm, visitors can freely browse the stalls, enjoying the green surroundings and the warm atmosphere of this Cantal village. Exhibitors can set up from 7:15 am for a full day of treasure hunting and discoveries.
