Cliousclat is a small village of about 600 inhabitants perched on the hills of the left bank of the Rhône, between Montélimar and Loriol. Its fame comes from its numerous potters and ceramicists workshops, established in the village for generations. The Poterie de Cliousclat, founded in 1903, is one of the oldest still in operation in France, perpetuating the tradition of Drôme earthenware from generation to generation.
The May 1st car boot sale gives Cliousclat the opportunity to liven up joyfully. In the village streets, between the pottery workshops and stone houses, private sellers offer items accumulated over the years: antique furniture, tableware, trinkets, books, clothes, toys, and curiosities. The view over the Rhône valley and the Ardèche mountains adds to the magic of this spring day.
This car boot sale is one of the events that punctuate the year in Cliousclat, along with the pottery festival and heritage days. It testifies to the dynamism of local community life and the attachment of the inhabitants to their village traditions, preserved despite the relative discretion of this small Drôme village.
