100 exhibitors at the pleasure port, bathtub race on the program
Some village rederies are worth the trip for their impeccable organization, others for their exhibitor quality, others for their unique atmosphere. Cappy's belongs to this last category, thanks to its hundred exhibitors, its exceptional setting (a pleasure port in a protected valley) and especially its fantasy local tradition: the bathtub race.
Cappy is one of the finest inland pleasure ports of the Somme canal. Setting up a rederie around this port completely transforms the traditional flea market setting.
Teams of two or three compete on a delimited course along the Somme, each in a bathtub transformed into a boat (cobbled together, decorated, sometimes completely wacky). Laughs guaranteed.
With a hundred exhibitors, rich variety: individuals dominant but also some professionals with antique furniture, regional crockery, maritime objects.
Commune of less than 500 inhabitants in the Haute-Somme, exceptional site in the middle of the protected valley.
Péronne Historial, Villers-Bretonneux memorial, fishing ponds, Somme canal.
Cappy is reached from Bray-sur-Somme (5 km) or Péronne (15 km). Parking near the village.
