Major spring flea market in the "Venice of Brie," 400 vendors in the heart of Crécy-la-Chapelle
The Crécy-la-Chapelle Flea Market & Garage Sale is one of the great annual events in Seine-et-Marne. With nearly 400 vendors spread throughout the picturesque town center of the city known as the "Venice of Brie," it attracts thousands of visitors every spring looking for furniture, dishware, toys, books, and antique objects. Entertainment, a petting farm, carousel, and food stalls add rhythm to a friendly day in an exceptional medieval setting.
Crossed by branches of the Grand Morin and surrounded by canals, Crécy-la-Chapelle proudly bears the nickname "Venice of Brie." Its stone bridges, washhouses, half-timbered houses, and monumental Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption collegiate church form a medieval setting unique in Île-de-France, which inspired many Impressionist painters including Camille Corot. It is in this exceptional setting that one of the largest flea markets in the department unfolds every spring.
With around 400 exhibitors, the Crécy-la-Chapelle Flea Market is a major Seine-et-Marne event. Private sellers and professional dealers set up in the streets and squares of the historic center, turning the town into an immense treasure market. Period furniture, antique dishware, trinkets, paintings, vintage clothing, old toys, books, and vinyl records line the aisles, to the delight of bargain hunters who explore the flea market from the earliest hours.
What makes the Crécy flea market special is its family-friendly character. Beyond the bargain hunting, the organizers offer a petting farm to introduce animals to children, a traditional carousel, and numerous food stalls so visitors can grab a bite between finds. Crêpes, sandwiches, cold drinks, and local Brie specialties add to the festive atmosphere.
Crécy-la-Chapelle is the perfect starting point to explore one of the most beautiful valleys in Seine-et-Marne. Hikers will enjoy the marked trails along the Grand Morin, food lovers can visit nearby cheese dairies to discover Brie de Meaux and Brie de Melun, and heritage enthusiasts can continue to Meaux, with its Gothic cathedral and bishop's palace, or to Disneyland Paris, just a few kilometers away.
Crécy-la-Chapelle is located about 45 kilometers east of Paris. It is accessible by car via the A4 (Crécy-la-Chapelle exit). The town also has an SNCF station served by Transilien line P from Gare de l'Est, making it easy for Paris-area visitors without cars to attend. A valuable asset for an event of this scale.
The Crécy-la-Chapelle Flea Market is held every year in spring in the town center. Around 400 vendors, entertainment, petting farm, carousel, and food stalls. Free admission for visitors.
