Flea market and pig festival in Thevet-Saint-Julien, village of George Sand in the Indre
The brocante of Thevet-Saint-Julien is associated with the traditional pig festival and the Saint-Loup festival. This festive event brings together flea market vendors, a producers' market, entertainment, and fireworks in this Berrichon village linked to the memory of George Sand.
The brocante of Thevet-Saint-Julien is the "antiques hunting" part of a festive day that combines the pig festival and the Saint-Loup festival. Exhibitors offer trinkets, tableware, tools, books, toys, furniture, clothing, and second-hand items on the municipal stadium and in the village center. In parallel, a producers' market showcases the flavors of the Berrichon region. Entertainment for all ages, an artisanal exhibition, a pig roast meal, and fireworks in the evening complete this day full of discoveries.
Thevet-Saint-Julien is a village of about 400 inhabitants located between La Châtre and Issoudun, in the department of Indre. The village is intimately linked to the memory of George Sand: the famous 19th-century novelist lived nearby and was largely inspired by the landscapes and inhabitants of this Berrichon countryside in her novels. The village retains an authentic rural heritage with its church and stone houses. The rolling landscape of Boischaut Sud surrounding it offers some of the most beautiful hiking trails in Berry.
The flea market is held annually, usually during the Saint-Loup festival. Free entry. Food and drinks available on site. Fireworks in the evening.
The flea market and pig festival of Thevet-Saint-Julien return in Summer 2026.
