Flea market on Rue du Rivage in Salperwick, at the gateway to the Audomarois marshes
Salperwick is one of those small communes that make up the inhabited fringe of the Audomarois marsh. Rue du Rivage, which leads to the embarkation points for the 'bacôves' (flat-bottomed boats), is an emblematic site of the local market gardening heritage. The flea market here takes on a very special flavor, amidst canals, willows, and vegetable gardens.
Classified as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, the Audomarois marsh is the last cultivated marsh in France. Salperwick, on its edge, has retained the market gardening activity that makes this unique terroir famous. Coming to hunt for treasures at the village flea market is also an opportunity to discover an exceptional natural and human heritage.
