About Brocante Saint-Germain-Beaupré

The Brocante de Saint-Germain-Beaupré is held every May 1st on the Place de l'Église and the Grande Rue in this village in Creuse, located at the borders of Berry and Limousin. This event is inseparable from the Prix du Muguet, a cycling race organized by the Vélo Club La Souterraine for over sixty years. The day combines treasure hunting, a farmers' market, lily-of-the-valley sales, and sporting events, creating a unique popular event in Creuse. Refreshments and fast food are available on site.

The May 1st Flea Market and the Prix du Muguet: A Creuse Tradition

Every May 1st, the village of Saint-Germain-Beaupré comes alive to the rhythm of its grand flea market and its cycling race, the Prix du Muguet. On the Place de l'Église and along the Grande Rue, exhibitors set up early in the morning to offer antiques, second-hand goods, used items, and curiosities to bargain hunters from all over Creuse and neighboring Berry.

The Prix du Muguet, A Historic Cycling Race

Organized by the Vélo Club La Souterraine, the Prix du Muguet is one of the oldest cycling races in the department, with over 60 editions under its belt. The 7-kilometer circuit, used by 2nd and 3rd category riders, juniors, and Pass Cycliste Open, winds through the green hills surrounding the village. The race starts in the afternoon, offering a sporting spectacle that perfectly complements the morning's treasure hunting.

A Village at the Crossroads of Berry and Limousin

Located about ten kilometers north of La Souterraine, Saint-Germain-Beaupré is a crossroads between Creuse and Indre. Its Romanesque church, granite houses, and bocage landscape form a typical setting for this northern fringe of Limousin. The village is also known for its Autumn Festival in October, a testament to the local community's vitality.

Farmers' Market and Lily-of-the-Valley

In addition to the flea market, a farmers' market offers local specialties: cheeses, cured meats, honey, and artisanal jams. The sale of lily-of-the-valley, an essential May 1st tradition, adds a spring touch to this festive day. Refreshments and fast food on site allow visitors to fully enjoy the friendly atmosphere.
