Monthly professional flea market on the Promenade des Docteurs Mattrais in Chinon, every 3rd Sunday of the month
The Brocante Rabelaisienne is held every 3rd Sunday of the month on the Promenade des Docteurs Mattrais, a majestic avenue lined with century-old plane trees along the Vienne river at the foot of the royal fortress of Chinon. Around 75 professional exhibitors offer a curated selection of antique furniture, earthenware, tableware, lighting, trinkets, interior decoration items, old books, and various curiosities. From 8 am to 7 pm, bargain hunters stroll through an exceptional setting, between the river and the medieval facades of the old town. On-site catering allows for a pleasant extension of the visit.
Chinon, a sub-prefecture of Indre-et-Loire, is a historic town of nearly 8,000 inhabitants dominated by the imposing royal fortress where Joan of Arc recognized the Dauphin in 1429. The birthplace of François Rabelais preserves a remarkable medieval center within the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Loire Valley. The Promenade des Docteurs Mattrais, developed on the former port of La Parerie – once the most important in Chinon – offers an ideal setting for outdoor events by the water.
The monthly regularity of the Brocante Rabelaisienne makes it a reliable spot for collectors and decorators. The exclusively professional selection guarantees a higher quality and diversity of items than a simple car boot sale. Contact Thierry Ormal at 02 47 46 23 67 or 06 14 90 68 03 for any information or stall reservation.
