Flea market of Pentecost in Pierrefitte-sur-Loire with dancing meal
Pierrefitte-sur-Loire is a small commune located in the extreme north of the Allier department, on the left bank of the Loire. The village, whose name evokes a standing stone (menhir or boundary stone), retains notable architectural heritage with its Romanesque church and the remains of its castle.
Like Diou and Dompierre-sur-Besbre, Pierrefitte-sur-Loire is one of the few communes in Bourbonnais located directly on the Loire. The river, wide and majestic in this part of its course, offers a remarkable natural setting. The banks of the Loire, with their gravel bars, islands, and alluvial vegetation, are a space for walking and discovery.
The Pierrefitte flea market is part of a larger Pentecost festival, with a dancing meal in the evening. This festive formula, typical of small communes in Bourbonnais, brings together residents and visitors around an event that lasts all day and continues into the evening.
