Car boot sale on May 8th at the covered market place Victor Hugo in Laon
Every May 8th, the Laon covered market (Les Halles), located at place Victor Hugo in the lower town, hosts a car boot sale organized by the association AAL and Couleurs de Babel. This original format combines indoor space and outdoor stalls, offering treasure hunters the opportunity to hunt for bargains sheltered from the weather while enjoying the open-air atmosphere.
Exhibitors can choose between an indoor pitch for 3 euros (with a guaranteed spot by reservation) and an outdoor pitch for 2 euros (allocated on a first-come, first-served basis). This system allows for both amateur and regular bargain hunters to participate. The event runs from 6:30 AM to 6 PM, providing ample time to find good deals.
Laon, the prefecture of Aisne, is famous for its fortified upper town and its Gothic cathedral. The May 8th brocante takes place in the lower town, which is more accessible, on place Victor Hugo, which usually hosts the covered market. This commercial district offers a practical urban setting with nearby parking facilities.
