Solidarity flea market for visually impaired people in Laon
Every year in June, the Association Valentin Haüy organizes its annual flea market in Laon, the prefecture of the Aisne. The event takes over Place Victor Hugo and the Halles of the upper town, offering a remarkable setting for a day of solidarity browsing in the heart of this medieval city perched on its hill.
The Association Valentin Haüy, founded in 1889 and recognized as being of public utility, supports blind and visually impaired people towards greater autonomy. The profits from this flea market contribute to the funding of the association's local activities: workshops, training, individualized support. Browsing at this flea market is therefore combining business with pleasure.
Laon, nicknamed the "crowned mountain" for its medieval towers visible from afar, is one of the most beautiful fortified cities in France. Its Gothic cathedral, its ramparts, its underground passages and its exceptional architectural heritage offer a unique setting for this flea market. Visitors can combine browsing with the discovery of this remarkable upper town, accessible by the Poma, a unique automatic metro in Europe.
