Annual flea market by Festi'zak on the Gémozac leisure area
The association Festi'zak, a key player in the festive and cultural life of Gémozac, organizes a large flea market every year on the town's leisure area, rue Carnot. This event brings together between 100 and 200 private exhibitors offering their treasures to antique hunters from Saintonge and northern Gironde.
The Gémozac flea market stands out for the diversity of its offerings: antique and rustic furniture, collectible tableware, trinkets, garden tools, books, vinyl records, vintage toys, and decorative items are displayed side by side. Pitches, charged at 3 euros per linear meter with a minimum of 5 meters to allow vehicle parking, attract both regular car boot sale attendees and occasional sellers looking to clear out their cellars and attics.
The cantonal capital located between Saintes and Royan, Gémozac is a dynamic town in the heart of the wine-growing region of Saintonge. Its crossroads position, at the intersection of roads leading to the Atlantic coast and the Charentais hinterland, makes it a natural place for passage and meeting. The town retains a rich architectural heritage with its Romanesque church of Saint-Pierre, its market halls, and its white stone houses. The surrounding vineyards, producers of Cognac and Pineau des Charentes, add to the charm of this preserved countryside.
Beyond the bargain hunting, the Gémozac flea market offers entertainment for all ages, including rides for children. On-site catering allows visitors to eat throughout the day, extending the festive and friendly atmosphere of this event which has established itself in the landscape of Charente-Maritime flea markets.
