Flea market and car boot sale during the village festival of Manzac-sur-Vern in Périgord Blanc
Every first weekend of August, Manzac-sur-Vern celebrates its village festival, organized by the association Les Amis de la Fête. This popular event brings together young and old around a two-day festive program, of which a car boot sale on Sunday morning is one of the highlights.
On Sunday, from 7:30 am for exhibitors to set up and 9 am for visitors, the Place de la Mairie in Manzac-sur-Vern transforms into an open-air flea market. Individuals offer their everyday items: crockery, trinkets, clothes, toys, books, and small furniture. Pitches are charged at €2 per linear meter, an affordable rate that attracts many occasional sellers from the Vern valley and the surroundings of Périgueux.
Saturday is dedicated to pétanque competitions, children in the morning and adults in the afternoon, followed by a dance evening. On Sunday, alongside the car boot sale, free rides delight the youngest while on-site catering allows for extending the day. Karaoke enlivens the afternoon, and the festival culminates with fireworks launched from the stadium at 10 pm.
A rural commune of about 600 inhabitants, Manzac-sur-Vern is located between Périgueux and Mussidan, in the green Vern valley. This small town in Périgord Blanc retains an authentic rural character, with its Romanesque church and traditional farms. The village festival perpetuates a tradition of conviviality that enriches these small communes in the Périgord region where social bonds remain strong.
