The 1 May brocante fair

On Friday 1 May 2026, Labour Day, Caumont-sur-Durance runs its annual brocante fair. The 1 May date is no coincidence: traditionally one of France's busiest brocante days, with crowds chasing spring escapes and good finds. In southern Vaucluse, where the season runs April to October, 1 May is often the great season kick-off.

Caumont-sur-Durance, an authentic village

About 5,000 residents by the Durance, between Avignon and Cavaillon. Built around Saint-Symphorien church (Historic Monument), medieval castle, rural heritage (washhouses, fountains, dry-stone walls). Saint-Véran hermitage on a hilltop is a key spiritual and tourism spot. Côtes du Rhône and Ventoux AOC, and famous table grape production (hence Place du Marché aux Raisins).
