Every summer, on the Sunday following the beginning of August, this village of a few thousand inhabitants transforms into the capital of the Drôme's flea market for a day. The Brocante Estivale de Saillans, which celebrated its 35th edition, has indeed become over the decades one of the benchmark events in the region for lovers of antique hunting and second-hand goods.

With around 120 exhibitors, the event offers an exceptionally wide range for a village of this size: professional antique dealers specializing in furniture, old tableware, books and documents, trinkets and curiosities, folk art and objects, rub shoulders with individuals happily clearing out their attics. The turnout is high, attracted by the event's reputation but also by the enchanting setting of Saillans and the charms of the Drôme valley in high summer.

Saillans is known well beyond the Drôme for its local participatory democracy experience, initiated in the early 2010s, which has made this village a nationally and internationally publicized laboratory of citizen governance.
