Summer flea market in Dompierre-sur-Besbre, on the banks of the Besbre
Dompierre-sur-Besbre is a dynamic commune in northeastern Allier, located at the confluence of the Besbre and the lateral canal to the Loire. The commune is best known for housing the PAL, the leading amusement and animal park in Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes, which attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.
Located on the borders of Allier, Nievre, and Saone-et-Loire, Dompierre-sur-Besbre benefits from a wider population base. This crossroads position is reflected in the origin of the flea market visitors, who come from Bourbonnais, Nivernais, and southern Burgundy alike.
The village of Dompierre has a modified Romanesque church and a collection of old houses that give a pleasant charm to the wanderings of treasure hunters. The proximity of the Besbre and the canal offers additional walking opportunities to complement the flea market visit.
