Bois-Colombes (92270) is a commune in Hauts-de-Seine, nestled between Colombes, Asnières-sur-Seine, Courbevoie and La Garenne-Colombes, with around 30,000 residents. Despite its modest area (1.8 km²), Bois-Colombes has a particularly rich associative life and a network of neighbourhoods with strong identities. Among these, the Bruyères quarter in the north-west takes its name from the ancient heathlands that covered this part of the plateau before 19th-century urbanisation.

It is in this neighbourhood, on two squares forming its convivial heart, that the Brocante des Bruyères takes place each year. Place de la Renaissance and Place de la Belle Hispano — the latter recalling by name the famous car brand that had its workshops in Levallois-Perret — provide an intimate and popular setting ideal for a day of hunting for bargains.
